Sasuke rarely shows his true feelings towards Sakura and they do not have a typical relationship. However, he finds joy in knowing that through Sakura, he has Sarada. With this in mind, is it possible that Sasuke married Sakura just to restore his clan?
Sasuke did not marry Sakura just to restore his clan. Sasuke truly loves Sakura even though their love for each other is not expressly shown. If Sasuke really did just want to revive his clan, he would not be content with just one child. He will make an effort to have a lot of children.
It is understandable why a lot of people think that this is the case. From a distance, we can see that Sasuke and Sakura’s relationship is loveless. But is this really true? We beg to differ, so read on!
Sasuke Did Mot Marry Sakura Just To Restore His Clan
Sasuke married Sakura because he loves Sakura. The latter might have been the one who chased the former around and expressed her love, but Sasuke ended up loving her out of his own accord.
We can go on and on about the many reasons as to why Sasuke married Sakura, but here is an article dedicated to that. Just to save you some investigation in the manga and anime.
The biggest proof that Sasuke married Sakura out of love and not to restore his clan is the fact that he only has one child, a daughter, named Sarada. If he intended to revive his clan, he would have Sakura popping babies here and there, but this is not the case.

At the same time, since Sarada is a girl, it is highly likely that when she gets married, she will not retain the Uchiha name. It is still unclear how the adoption of names is done in the Naruto universe, but so far, it remains the traditional way where the kunoichi adopts the shinobi’s last name.
An example is that of Hinata wherein she changed her surname, Hyuga to Uzumaki after marrying Naruto. This information can be found in Zai no Sho (8th supplementary guidebook of Naruto)
On the other hand, it seems like kunoichis can choose whether to retain their surnames based on how powerful their clan is. Such is the case with Narutos’ mother, Kushina Uzumaki, who did not take the surname of Minato Namikaze.

Currently, in Boruto, there are signs that Sarada and Boruto might end up together. Therefore, Sarada may or may not take Boruto’s last name. Still, if they have children, they will still hold the Uzumaki last name. In sum, this is where the Uchiha name will be cut.
Unless Sasuke really makes an effort to have a boy and him reacting significantly about it, only do we know for sure that he strives to revive his clan. Alternatively, this is not the case in anime and manga canon.
In both the manga and anime, Sasuke only expressed his pride in the fact that Sakura took the Uchiha name, and wears the Uchiha clan’s crest.
Sasuke Loves Sakura
Sure, in Boruto, Sasuke is not always around for Sakura and Sarada. In the few times that he gets to go home, he does not even show affection towards Sakura, so is he just waiting for the right time to have more children with Sakura?
This is highly unlikely because Sasuke loves Sakura. In fact, when Sasuke is away from the village, he feels a lot of regrets as he cannot spend quality time with Sakura and Sarada, thus making him miss a lot of precious milestones.
If you are curious if Sasuke and Sakura regret getting married, give this a quick read. You might be in for a surprise as to what they both truly regret.
It is not known to many that it is possible that Sasuke has been harboring his own feelings towards Sakura even before Naruto Shippuden. The fact that in Naruto, Sasuke gave Sakura a solemn thank you before leaving the village speaks volumes.
In the manga, it is shown that Sasuke will sometimes blush when Sakura accidentally lets out her feelings towards him. At the same time, there were instances that he will get jealous when someone else rescues Sakura first.
It is a pity that we do not get to see this in action in the anime, but these little nuances prove that Sasuke has feelings for Sakura. It was only in the time skip between Naruto Shippuden and Boruto, did these feelings came to fruition.
Sasuke Confirms Love For Sakura In Boruto
In Boruto (episode 23), Sarada was questioning Sasuke about his true feelings for her mom, Sakura. It was here that Sasuke stated that their feelings are connected because Sarada exists.
In this conversation, Sasuke emphasized that the reason for her being born is is his deep connection with Sakura. Without that connection, Sarada would never have been born.
It is easy to gloss over this scene in the anime because it did not really focus on the real dynamics of the relationship between Sasuke and Sakura.
However, in the manga, it is more dramatically drawn and puts emphasis on the heavy words of Sasuke.
Sasuke Does Not Lie About His Feelings
The creator of Naruto, Masashi Kishimoto said in a lot of interviews that Sasuke has a black and white personality. He is simply honest and pure about his feelings. Once he is set on a goal, he will do whatever it takes to attain it.
Therefore, it is out of character for Sasuke to be married to Sakura simply because he wants to restore his clan. If this was his intention from the start, he would have said this straight to Sakura. Not to mention, Sakura might have agreed to just bear his children even without having a relationship.

They did not have to get married or live in one house. Sasuke could have simply gotten Sakura pregnant many times, and that will just be the essence of their relationship. Clearly, this is not what is happening.
Additionally, if Sasuke’s goal is to restore his clan, it would have been logical for him to look for a kunoichi that belongs to a powerful clan that has a kekkei genkai (just like the Sharingan). This paves the way for him to have stronger and inherently talented children.
Sasuke Did Not Even Want To Restore His Clan
Keep in mind, all that Sasuke ever wanted to do was to restore his clan. Not in the means of repopulating it, but to clear his clan out of all the bad allegations. He simply wanted to put an end to people, and ultimately, the village that tarnished the Uchiha name.
Even though Sasuke feels sad as he is the last Uchiha, he never for once thought that he can simply marry and have more Uchihas. As a new father, he was even unsure of what to do with his new role. He sincerely wants to be a good husband and father.
